A Wee Bit Of Strife

A footballer who urinated on the playing field at halftime yesterday escaped suspension at the Tasmanian Football League (TFL) tribunal.

Burnie Dockers midfielder Kent Jackson, 24, pleaded guilty to taking a "sneaky leak" during a match against Sandy Bay last Saturday.

Jackson said it was common for players to relieve themselves on the field and he had tried to shield himself behind a team-mate.

"It has been embarrassing for me, my mother has been on to me and my grandmother has rung up about it," Jackson said. "I won't do it again."

Tribunal chairman Greg Geason convicted Jackson but did not suspend him.

Geason said the next player cited for the offence would be suspended and his club fined.
